​Head to Head Rivalries of Female 71 kg Division

It has been an incredible rivalry between Anna Rantanen (FIN) and Angela Mamic (SWE) and Anna Tarasova (RUS) throughout years with a newcomer from Croatia Helena Jurisic turning the the axis of power making a bright debut in the IFMA World Championships 2018. Each of these athletes won gold medal of major muaythai events circulating on the awarding podium from event to event.

Two years ago Jurisic won the gold medal of the World Muaythai Championships surprising even her own team. Angela Mamic must have underestimated her mysterious opponent finding no means to win at least one round of the final bout in Mexico.

Angela learnt her lesson and next year in Bangkok the draw brought the Croat and Swede in the semifinal where Angela showed why she’s deemed to be one of the most decorated IFMA athletes. Angela gained a win of the two rounds, and gave initiative to Helena who used the opportunity to win the last round which still was not enough for the overall victory.

Triumph seemed to be very close for Angela after she won the repeater of the World’s final 2018. Last obstacle was the Finnish Anna Rantanen. Having a very tiring draw it was a true challenge for Angela to compete against a tall and skillful Finn. Angela again lost the final and gained another rival to have a rematch. Anna Rantanen in her turn added to the triumph of the Finnish team in 2019 bringing gold medal to the overall result.

2019 concluded with the European Muaythai Championships 2019 which gathere Europe’s strongest athletes in the Belarus capital, Minsk. And again spectators the final of the World Championships in Bangkok in the first round of the 71 kg division. Angela Mamic was going for a rematch against Anna Rantanen. In a very close fight Angela had her another rematch, but history repeated with the Anna Tarasova from Russia waiting for Angela in the final. In a very close fight the gold medal ended up in the bank of the Russian team. Angela Mamic now has the third opponent to prove herself on her way to the sporting excellence and medals of most prestigious muaythai events.

71 kg division truly turns to one of the most unpredictable and exciting divisions to watch. The upcoming event will definitely be the one to follow with these athletes giving the best muaythai exerience to the host spectators of IFMA events.
